Summer Days

This summer I have had the privilege of being part of a Vocation Panel for junior high and high school campers at our diocesan Catholic Camp.   Panelists have shared their life journey with these young people and “tried to” answer their questions.   This has been an amazing experience as I have discovered that most young Catholic people have never even met a Sister, let alone have any regular contact with a woman religious. My other significant summer experience has been meeting with a young woman, Chelsea,   who has been discerning a vocation to the Ursuline Sisters.   Sharing her spiritual journey has been a real blessing for me. Both of these experiences have caused me to think about the value of religious life.   Chelsea’s journey of faith is filled with hope and a great desire to be “sister” to those who serve others through the vocation of religious life.   The campers’ curiosity about religious life and their real desire to consider it as a life option conf

Dominicans Collaborating

In April of 2011 our congregation gathered for a significant direction setting “Chapter” during which time we trusted that God, “Fire of Love,” was “Creating Us Anew.”   We proclaimed that “we commit ourselves to living boldly together into the next five years.”     One of the ways we choose to live boldly is to “dream globally and collaborate intentionally.” This October members of 20 congregations of Dominican Sisters and Associates will gather for a convocation entitled, Edgewalkers: Unfolding the Fertile Unknown. About 500 Dominicans will study, pray, and celebrate our life and mission and step into the future with hope. I have the privilege of being a part of the planning for this historic convocation. It is exciting to work with others from various congregations. The Spirit is alive in the creation of this venture. In collaboration Dominicans make a difference in our world. I am inspired and strengthened by   many committed women.
