The Earth - the Passion of Christ!
This year Good Friday & Earth Day coincide. The human family is growing in its awareness of our dependence on the earth, how it cares for us, feeds us, shelters us and more. We are aware that the earth is alive in its own way – it is stretching, moving, turning and more.
During Holy Week Triduum we remember the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus the Christ.
It is on Good Friday that we especially remember Jesus’ death. It was on that deeply sad day that God’s creation, the earth, gently welcomed the body of Jesus. It held him until the moment, hidden from human view, that Christ resurrected. The earth witnessed that holy event and yet, humbly – silently, continued the sacred work of caring for all who live upon it.
This Good Friday – consider the good earth and how it cared for the body of Jesus. Then consider how you might return the favor and care for its future.
