Gospel of the Holy Spirit
In the Easter season - fifty days that are one - one day stretched out across fifty 24-hour segments - brings the church community to ponder the early church and the movement of the Holy Spirit as more and more people - Jews & Gentiles - came to believe in Jesus the Christ. This is the time we hear readings from the Acts of the Apostles, also known as the Gospel of the Holy Spirit, at Mass. I think of this book of the bible as the story of us - the church - in our infancy. Just like our own infancy - we don't know our earliest stories unless someone who was there tells us. This part of scripture is very much the same. It is our earliest accounts of the movement of the Good News and we need to hear these stories again and again. Why?
