Summer....Time of Transitions

Summer – what a welcome season!  For me, this summer is a time of transition.  This weekend our congregation will welcome our new leaders.  One thing I love about the Sinsinawa Dominicans is that we always look to new ways we can help bring about the reign of God in our fractured world.  May our new leaders be blessed!

Last Sunday Sisters Kathleen Flood, Geri Hoye and I attended another transition – Sister Janet Delperdang’s farewell at St. Regina Parish in Parsons, TN, where she has been parish director since 1997.  What a joy it was for us to celebrate with her and to hear from the people what a great impact Janet has had on their lives.

The next transition is our Sister Maureen Kennedy’s transition to eternal life.  Maureen died on June 28 and her funeral is July 1, her birthday, and now her birthday into eternal life.  Maureen was part of our local community for many years and gave us much joy with her humor, even in the midst of physical suffering.

What lesson do I gain from transitions?  Life is a precious gift – use It well but don’t ever be afraid to do something new, and when the time comes, to give everything over to the Divine One!

  1. Is this the same Sister Janet Delperdang from Saint Theresa in Palatine, Illinois?
