Being Dominican

As Dominicans we have several options for women and men to join us in our mission to preach God’s love and compassion. Currently we have a Dominican Volunteer International  (DVI) living with us; she is a 21 yr. old just out of university from Santo Tomas in Bogotá Colombia.  When she finishes this year of service she returns to Colombia to look for next steps in her life. Last year we had a DVI from Trinidad Tobago. She was 30 yrs old a professional lawyer and spoke three languages. After she finished her year with us she returned to ‘Trini’ and entered the Dominican sister’s cloister for a contemplative life. She is currently a novice. For myself I chose the apostolic or active life of a Dominican sister and I meet wonderful people in my ministries. God calls each one of us intimately to follow. What are you hearing? As I pray and listen to God speaking in my heart I am ‘confident and unafraid’. As it says in the Gospels God puts a belt around our waist and takes us…, nudges us, invites us , and my journey is so blessed.  What is God putting in your heart these days? Where is the nudge leading?  Prayer, community and ministry are blessings for me as a Dominican. It is a great journey preaching through my daily life.
